Route Selection: Bushwick Inlet

Greenways

Greenways provide safe and accessible corridors for transportation and active recreation through parks and on streets. NYC DOT is responsible for the planning, design and implementation of greenways on city streets.

Bushwick Inlet Park will connect the greenway along Kent Avenue and the planned facility for West Street. Department of Parks and Recreation also has plans for a waterfront park at Bushwick Inlet. DOT considered both on-street and park connections along this section of the Greenway.

Route A (shown in blue) follows the periphery of the planned park and connects directly to West Street. This route would require grading and perhaps a boardwalk, but would preserve the existing streetscape along Franklin Ave and reaffirm the planned view corridor from West Street to Bushwick Inlet Park.

Route B (shown in yellow) is already in place. Both Quay and Calyer Streets are signed and provide access to West Street. Due to the commercial nature of these streets, it will be difficult to create a separated path along this route.
