Greenways

Greenways provide safe and accessible corridors for transportation and active recreation through parks and on streets. NYC DOT is responsible for the planning, design and implementation of greenways on city streets.

NYC DOT and NYPD have partnered with the non-profit organizations Bike New York and Recycle-A-Bike in order to promote and educate kids across the city about biking. Join other New York families at one of this season’s Bike Bonanzas to pick up a free helmet, upgrade your child’s bike, or have your child learn how to ride for the first time or learn important cycling skills and traffic principals. The next upcoming Bike Bonanza is along the route of the future Greenway at Red Hook Recreation Area at Bay Street and Henry Street in Red Hook.
